You will be pleased to acquaint the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty that the Peninsula of Kowloon & Stone Cutters Island have been acquired by a perpetual lease from the Govr Genl of Canton at a rent of £160 per annum to be paid by the British Govt.
This arrangement was effected through the instrumentality of Mr. Parkes, the British Commissioner at Canton, & in giving his consent to it the Govr Genl of Canton stated that had the relations of the two Governments now been on a satisfactory footing...
